The CTR21 project has achieved an important milestone with the successful completion of Phase Two of the research. All ten participating schools have now completed their CTR21 training and have officially been certified. This represents a significant cohort of teachers across ten schools on the ABCSSS islands who are now equipped with strengthened inquiry-based and research competencies.
The participating pilot schools include:- Bonaire: Het Koraal
- Aruba: Prinses Amalia Basisschool, Colegio Santa Famia, Scol Basico Xander Bogaerts
- Curaçao: F.O. Ellis Juliana – Sheila Karel, Dr. Albert Schweitzer College F.O, St. Fransiscus College
- St. Eustatius: Seventh Day Adventist Primary School
- St. Maarten: Sister Magda Primary School, F.O. Rev. John A. Gumbs Campus
During the certification phase, teachers received both theoretical content and practical didactical approaches focused on fostering an inquiry mindset among primary school teachers across the ABCSSS islands. The training emphasized how research-informed practices can strengthen reflective teaching, critical questioning, and innovation in the classroom.
As part of the program, participating teachers also designed a practical research assignment aimed at improving the quality of education within their own school context. This marks an important step toward embedding sustainable, research-driven educational development across the islands.
We now look forward to the final phase of the project: the implementation of these research designs in everyday classroom practice.
